Sitting at a computer connected to the internet is common among internet marketers. You may spend half of your time actually doing productive work but end up getting distracted and then surf the rest of your time. Just in case you have forgotten, the average person doesn’t hang out on the internet as much as we do. If you only market your business to people through internet avenues, you will be missing out on quite a lot of potential customers! A good business person will market his or her business to every potential customer he (or she) can reach. Lucky for us we have offline marking to reach our potential. Read on to learn how to use some of these powerful offline methods, they truly can make a massive difference.
Everyone has, at one time or another, browsed the classified ads of their newspaper. You’ve probably already tried to advertise online at sites like Craigslist. You could just as easily advertise in a local newspaper’s classified section. Some marketing experts claim that a good offline ad can get more than ten times as much attention as one placed on an online site. The classified ad in your newspaper might cost you some money, but when you think of all of the sales you are creating, isn’t the cost worth it? Newspaper classifieds will bring all the people who don’t own computers, while at the same time if they want to order something from you online they can always use a public computer! Get something small printed, like key chains or sticky notes and hand them out or leave them in strategic places. Try to find places to give these items away for free, such as local restaurants, gyms or retail stores. You could also try simply leaving them in strategic places around town that people visit often. Carry them with you and just leave them in the various places your own errands take you. People like being able to hold something and look at it rather than just see it on a screen.
The use of bulletin boards that you see in public places is often overlooked by most marketers. This is one of the free methods that will bring you results. A well placed flier with something people can take home to help them remember your URL can do wonders for your business. Almost every visitor to the library or grocery store stops by the bulletin board, just to see what is being offered. Free methods usually take a lot of time and effort to set-up and then even more time to see results; this is the exact opposite. Even if you have an internet based business, you can market it offline in many different ways. There are at least as many great ways to market your business offline as on the internet. You may just have to shift gears a little.
Just look at the world with the idea of finding new ways to market your business, and you’ll find inspiration all over! Every time you meet someone, ask yourself if he or she could benefit from what you are offering. Don’t be afraid to spend some of your marketing budget on offline marketing materials that you can hand out or give away. You don’t have to choose between internet and offline marketing; you’ll prosper the most if you do both.
